Overview
To keep my skills sharp and up to date, I often find myself building websites and creating designs not for any client, but merely to experiment and see what new creative means of web design I can come up with.
While few designs reach the web, all of my personal projects have contributed to the growth of my talents.
Orb Portals Studios
2010 WordPress Portfolio, 12th Version
With the start of 2010, I sought to update my own site and try for something I had never done before. I redesigned my site leaning on an industrial, early 50’s/60’s style. Being a style I have not done before, it took several passes to achieve the right look. Unlike prior projects, this site was created with a much small color palette and very specific effects. Many of the techniques I’ve learned in this version will be carried on to future projects.

2009 CSS Purist Site
Starting way back in 2007, I wanted to do a web award for Orlando Businesses & Restaurants with outstanding websites. While the idea never caught on, it exists as an example of the simplicity of CSS.

2008 WordPress Blog
Out of all the wordpress sites I have built, only one, this one, was ever dedicated as a pure blog. Based on the now abandoned BlackMinimalism 2.0 theme, in 2009 I completely re-wrote the theme to support the latest version of wordpress.
While I often ignore it now thanks to facebook and twitter, this site remains a good example of how WordPress can be bent to my needs.

2003-9 Custom PHP Web Directory
Originally this site was to be a web directory. While it under went many, many changes in 2009 I abandoned the legacy code for it and now the site is being migrated to a new CMS platform.

2003 Custom PHP Web Directory
Way back when, I made a web directory called OrbPortals. WayPoint 3/4 was born as a prototype for it. Since the Space Empires gaming community had a fair amount, but not alot, of sites I could make a web directory for it as a test bed for OrbPortals’ planned web directory.
IronHorse Shipworks
2008 WordPress Theme
A modernization of the venerable Hemingway WordPress Theme, IronHorse Shipworks and Salvage is a fan site I made to host my files and artwork for the Space Empires game, along with some other hard to find goodies.
Yes, I am a nerd. I know.

Info:Now in development, Advent Empires is a game of intergalactic expansion and conquest. Each player is charged with the defense of their empire and home worlds and victory is achieved by the defeating your opponent by any means necessary. This game will fill a major void in the collectible card game industry, which lacks a quality, fun, and easy to play science fiction collectible card game.

Info:My promise, in my goal to become the definitive web directory of Orlando, and Central Florida, is to remain 100% free for basic listings so that there will never be a cost to submit or use this directory. Instead, it will be supported by advertising from reputable businesses and Google ads. Currently, the old framework this site was built on is, well, getting older and I am working on a new version with more features and tools.

Info:Xterm Pest Management is an American-owned business dedicated to providing pest control to Orlando businesses and residents. Their mission is to become the best pest control company they can be and they are doing that with superior service, training and knowledge. This is a long-term project I am still working closely with the client with the ensure the strongest possible message and quality of service is delivered.
