When do you stop helping people?

It’s a good question.

Over the years, my family and I have reached a point where people count on us for being there to help them and help them get up from falling down and even help them cast aside the ruins of one life to start anew.

But in our hour of need.
When we need help.
When our family, home, and life are at stake.

Who do we turn to?

Our personal friends? Nope. While we are the first they ask for help from, when we ask for help from them they don’t care to.

Our relatives? Nope. While they turned to us to cast away the ruins and derelicts of their lives and help them start anew, they suddenly forget we helped bankroll nearly 3 months of their lives for them and refuse even the simplist request for help.

The Church? Nope. They want a donation to grease the wheels of charity – providing we keep greasing them up and maybe give the pastor a reach around.

The Community? Fat Chance. While they need your support to block the homeowners association formation or city annexation, they seem to be a lot happier if you moved out.

Local Leaders? Ha! Not a flying chance.

It seems to me, that we’ve been hose’d by our friends and family and in our final minutes of the hour of most need — we stand alone and So I return to the question, When do you stop helping people?

Upon careful consideration of the question, I have two answers.

Never and Always.

But that doesn’t matter now, because its almost too late now.

It won’t help anyone, and no comments to flare debate will be made.

So where does that leave us?

fallen.
