A persecution complex is a term given to an array of psychologically complex behaviors that specifically deal with the perception of being persecuted for various possible reasons, imagined or real.
1. There is a majority of Christians over other religions in the country. It’s been this way for a long time.
2. There is a blatant pro-christian slant in the government, not only in who gets elected, but “faith-based initiatives” for funneling taxpayer funds into private pockets, scientifically wrong intelligent design (creationism) being ram-rod’ed into children’s schools, and lax enforcement separation of church and state constitutional law.
3. How often do you see a jesus fish in a newspaper ad? When compared to an Islamic crescent or Jewish star or a Gay symbol or a Trekkie logo? The reality of this is that people who do display non-Christian logos tend to get isolated, persecuted, stone-walled, and boycotted.
4. This country, at its very core, was intended to be neither biased to or rejecting of any religion or lack thereof. After all, It starts with “WE THE PEOPLE” not “we the christians”.
But for some bizarre, strange, and apocryphal reason with insanity at a level that could collapse a star, we have a majority, wielding powers of government like a child with a loaded hand gun, feeling like the victimized underdog plotting the ultimate destruction of everyone not them every sunday.
Now I know people are going to say otherwise and that the powers that be don’t represent them in christianity. The problem is, that, those people won’t change the powers that be either. They won’t stand up to make a difference.
And in that, people will suffer.
