Bioshock plans a star wars-esque future

What news flows down the great chain today.  While I’m a fan of Bioshock, I’m left perplexed by the statements of Christoph Hartmann and his plan to create 5 more sequels to the successful game.

For fans of the game this is great news.  President Christoph Hartmann  (2K) said that he hoped to emulate star wars.  Interesting given that same speculation on the Bioshock sequel “Sea of Dreams” (expected 2009) might connect back to the building of the game’s city of Rapture.  Could future sequels follow the arcs of characters like Andrew Ryan or Fontaine during their respective rises and downfall?

I’m a big fan of the game, it’s a fun and great adventure in the survival-horror/first person shooter genre of games that the Xbox 360 dominates.  I’m left wondering how they can assemble 5 more games worth of material and how much demand there will be fore five games.  Then again they keep churning out crap Sonic the Hedgehog games and Mario has chased the same princess for what seems like decades on end and they keep making money.

In the meantime, I’ll sit and wait and enjoy trying to unlock more achievements in Bioshock.

“I am an atheist, out and out. It took me a long time to say it. I've been an atheist for years and years, but somehow I felt it was intellectually unrespectable to say that one is an atheist, because it assumed knowledge that one didn't have. Somehow it was better to say one was a humanist or agnostic. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect that he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time.”
